For Sierra, Alex and Latrice, the innocence of childhood was lost at an early age. Tormented for years by an incestuous pedophile, the three cousins transition into womanhood carrying a family secret that would influence their lives and threaten to destroy their family. Choosing significantly different paths as they struggle to deal with the psychological effects of abuse, the three are eventually driven apart. Through a series of unlikely circumstances, the heroine of the story, Alex, reconnects with Sierra and Latrice. The meeting would ultimately set the stage for atonement. A mother at sixteen and Las Vegas working girl by the age of thirty, Sierra spent her entire life searching for love and trying to forget her past. In Las Vegas, Sierra shed her country girl persona and took on the strip alone. While somewhat content with her moderate success on the Vegas scene, Sierra is proud of the fact that her success came without the assistance of a pimp; who in her opinion, were vultures disguised as knights in shining armor. However, after a brutal beating at the hands of one of her “clients”, Sierra is forced to relinquish her independence to a fast talking pimp named Lenny. He promises her the world; and to her dismay, he delivers. Lenny, a surprisingly quintessential pimp with a southern gangster facade, rescues Sierra from the ruthless streets of Las Vegas, suspiciously offering her a deal of a lifetime as a high-class call girl. When Alex, Sierra and Lenny attend an impromptu family gathering in Louisiana, Alex discovers she and Lenny have a mutual acquaintance named Tiffany, who happens to be the only woman he ever truly loved. Tiffany, who bears a striking resemblance to Sierra, recently succumbs to AIDS, taking with her an undying love for Lenny. In a riveting twist of fate, Alex delivers the tragic news to Lenny, along with a letter from Tiffany, which reveals her darkest secrets.
